Gallery : Exhibition of student's works on antique architecture

by Mnesikles on Sat 4th August 2007

About This Gallery

On July, 19, 2007 in vicinities of Saint Petersburg (Russia), in Tsarskoe Selo has opened a surprising exhibition – «The Classical Antiquity in Creative Works of Students – Architects». Materials are submitted to this exhibition you can find in ours Gallery under the same name.

Here I want to add some words about this exhibition and a place where it was carried out. Tsarskoe Selo is a former country residence of the Russian emperors. A palace of Prince Paul Kochubey– one of the most beautiful private residences of the Russian nobility, constructed in the beginning of XX century under the project of architects Tamanian and Lancere in Neo-Classical style.

At the exhibition were represented graphic works on various themes of antique architecture, performed by students of the architectural faculty of St.-Petersburg Architectural and Building University (SPbGASU) for last 100 years.

The exhibition has passed with the big success at the presence of administration of a palace, representatives of professorate and students of the University. It seemed to me interesting to place here some photos, taken off on the opening of an exhibition. The old White Hall of a palace constructed in Neo-Classical style is in surprisingly harmony with works on a theme of Ancient Greece and Rome.
